The TV Knickerbocker Theatre is partnering with Access Contemporary Music to host an evening of live music and film on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.

Access Contemporary Music’s popular Sound of Silent Film Festival, now in its 20th year, is a unique event featuring new short silent films in every conceivable genre screened with newly composed musical scores performed live. The program includes three comedies, two dramedies, two gorgeous animated films, and three heart-warming shorts. All films will be screened with new musical scores performed live.

The program for the evening includes a variety of unique short films: “Landmine of Mine,” a moving tale of a man stepping on a landmine and paying with his life, by Kevin T. Landry with music by Lynn Bechtold; “Meet Cute,” a charming story inspired by the silent films of the 1920s about two people meeting at a bus stop, by Shawn Patrick Tilling with music by Rob Steel; “Coloring,” which follows a young girl’s inspiration on a simple car ride, by Francisco Javier Landin Jr. with music by Milica Paranosic; “Inside Looking Out,” a touching drama about a gardener’s attempt to save a “suicidal” house plant, by Cooper Hardin with music by Nailah Nombeko; “Life,” a humorous exploration of one man’s quest for the perfect toast, by Nick Bolton with music by Tim Corpus; “Kiss ‘n’ Ride,” where a woman reflects on her date and the beauty of a Chicago winter night, by Olivia Jensen with music by Carl LaMark; “Devil’s Foodcake,” the quirky story of a simpleton making a deal with the devil to win a cake contest, by JohnBen Lacy with music by Seth Boustead; “Death by Omelette,” a suspenseful film about a woman’s making her husband a killer omelette, by Greg Emetaz with music by Victoria Malawey; “Mittens,” the heartfelt journey of a pair of red mittens passed from grandmother to granddaughter, by Justin Johnson with music by Tatev Amiryan; and “Falling for Greta,” a romantic drama about the complexities of love and passion, by Gustavo Arteaga with music by Ledah Finck.

Josh Zaller will conduct the chamber ensemble performing the music live. The ensemble features musicians Larissa Brooks (violin), Elyor Gofurov (clarinet), Emily Grabinski Conklin (piano), Mark Lopez (drums), Pablo Mahave-Veglia (cello), and Laura Schipper (flute). 

Tickets are $15 for regular admission, and free for Hope students. Tickets are available at the ticket office in the Events and Conferences Office located in downtown Holland in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center (100 E. Eighth St.). The ticket office is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at 616-395-7890. Tickets are also available online at hope.edu/tickets.
