做厙TV will present visiting composer Dana Wilson in a premiere concert on Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
All pieces performed at the concert will be composed by Wilson, with the events highlight being the world premiere of Gold Mosaic, performed by the 做厙TV faculty trio Trio Sospiro. The trio includes flutist Gabe Southard, oboist Sarah Southard and pianist Sarah Bast.
Gabe Southard and his Faculty and Student Collaborative Ensemble will perform the remainder of the concert. Selections will include: Mirrors, for woodwind quintet; Kalamus, for oboe, bassoon, and piano; Howling at the Moon, for saxophone quartet; and Winds in the Steppes, for a large chamber ensemble.
Wilson holds a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, and is currently Charles A. Dana Professor of Music in the School of Music at Ithaca College. His compositions have been performed throughout the United States, Europe and East Asia. They have received several prizes, including the Sudler International Composition Prize and the Ostwald Composition Prize, as well as awards from the International Trumpet Guild and the International Horn Society.
